Job Summary:
Associate performs quality diagnostic procedures in an accurate and timely fashion. He/she operates CT and X-ray equipment and processes image as required. Associate prepares CT room, equipment, supplies and medication as indicated for the procedure/exam being performed. He/she practices proper radiation safety techniques on all exams and ensures his/her direct reports and other staff members follow the same precautions. Associate maintains safe environment for patients, co-workers and visitors. Supports and helps achieve the departmental and hospital goals. Provides services to all age groups (infant to geriatric).
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.
• Prepares room, equipment, medicine and materials as needed for patients.
• Cleans and disinfects CT room and equipment.
• Observes proper radiation safety techniques on all exams.
• Prepares Barium preparation and other CT contrast mixtures for the procedures.
• Prepares patient for CT exam - explains procedures, transfers patient to table, positions patient and assists patient at the end of the procedure.
• Processes image in accordance with industry standards and techniques.
• Follows prescribed techniques in administering CT procedure/exam (adjust equipment; determines proper KVP & mA, positions patient, adjust lead shield and selects proper scanning parameters).
• Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences and records patient's condition.
• Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties, (i.e., proper charge codes, procedures completed.)
• Inspects and reports equipment/room for any malfunctions within his/her shift.
• Transports patients as necessary.
• Takes call as required.
• Assists with other duties as assigned by the AVP/Director and or Imaging Manager/Supervisor/Lead Tech.
• Performs all CT procedures on patient between the ages of infancy to Geriatric.
• Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.
• Serves as a clinical resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care
• Takes appropriate measures to ensure safety of patients.
• Efficiently operates the PACS.
• Provides excellent customer service to our patients, visitors, staff and co-workers.
• Performs Point of Care Testing for Urine HCG and Creatinine. Calculates GFR.
• Lab draws as necessary.
• Attends staff meetings and in-services.
• Completes educational activities as assigned.
• Follows proper procedure for infection control.
Qualifications/License/Certifications
• Must have current license American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R)(CT). If associate does not hold advanced certification, associate shall obtain within 6 months of hire/promotion or completion of training program.
RECENT ACUTE CARE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED IN SPECIALTY.
• Must have current Texas license Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification
