Cafeteria Helper - Goodnow Elementary School

Reports to the School Cafeteria Manager and Food Service Director
Statement of Duties:
- Performs tasks requiring an ordinary degree of skill in preparation and serving of food as well as other tasks required for the operation and sanitary maintenance of a food service facility or area.
- Prepares vegetables and other foods for cooking
- Makes soups and other simple hot foods, sandwich fillings, salad dressing, and simple desserts.
- Prepares sandwiches and salads.
- Serves lunch and snacks.
- Operates electrical equipment such as mixers, potato peelers, slicing machines, dishwashers, and toasters.
- Cleans tables and other kitchen equipment.
- Collects and washes dishes, silver and cooling utensils, and puts them away.
- Sweeps floor, cleans counters and tables, and counter and kitchen equipment, such as food containers, trays, cooking ranges, garbage cans, and refrigerators.
- Receives and checks deliveries of food and other supplies.
- Stores foods properly in refrigerators and storeroom.
- Keeps stores in good order.
- Assists in the taking of inventories of supplies, cashiering, and keeps simple records.
- Works as a member of a cafeteria staff team.
- Assist and monitor students in the cafeteria
- Responsible for other general duties as assigned by the School Cafeteria Manager and Food Service Director, as indicated by the Principal, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and policies of the Marlborough School Committee.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred but not required
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Experience in food service industry preferred
- Must be a positive contributor as a team player
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find acceptable.
