Location: Stamford, CT
Work Schedule: Hybrid
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Claims Examiner, you will oversee a portfolio of complex claims, specializing in property and casualty, with a focus on primary claims such as General Liability, Auto, Property, Professional Liability, and more. You'll perform thorough claims audits and handle the review process. Reporting to the Vice President, you'll have the opportunity to develop your expertise with additional claims authority as your training progresses. Key Functions:
- Manage a diverse portfolio of complex claims
- Handle the review of primary claims including General Liability, Auto, Property, Professional Liability, and more
- Perform necessary claim audits
- Determine coverage and ensure the accuracy of Cedant claim cessions
- Establish reserves, book payments, and maintain comprehensive file documentation
- Keep claim files up-to-date in a timely and accurate manner
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with reinsurance brokers and cedants
- Provide in-depth analysis of trends and anomalies
- Submit claims reports as required for large exposure claims
- Offer regular workflow reports (Activity sheets)
- Maintain frequent and timely communication with Underwriting, Actuarial, and the management team
- Participate in roundtable discussions and collaborate on Innovation initiatives
- Stay informed about insurance lines and current claim procedure guidelines

We understand that every candidate brings unique skills and experiences. Our comprehensive 12-week training program for new hires ensures that you are well-prepared to excel in your role. Candidates do not need prior reinsurance experience; we will provide the training you need to thrive in this dynamic environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Primary casualty claims experience in Property, GL or Auto; reinsurance claims handling experience is a plus but not required, as we provide training
- Possession of Insurance Industry Designations (CPCU, SCLA, AIC, ARe) is an advantage
- Familiarity with Policy/Contract language
- Strong multitasking abilities with keen attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel domestically as required
