About Us: We are a dynamic and fast-paced food co-packing facility specializing in mid-volume production. Our versatile operation handles 50-200 gallons of product daily, ranging from bone broth, buffalo dip, soups and sauces. Every day brings a new challenge and a new product, keeping our team engaged and constantly learning.
Position: Assistant Production Chef
Type: Full-Time, First Shift (30-40 hours per week)
Overview: We seek a proactive and dependable Assistant Production Manager to support our Production Manager. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can independently manage daily production tasks, oversee multiple product lines, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role involves hands-on work with various 80-140 gallon kettles and collaboration with the team on large-scale production jobs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the right-hand person to our Production Manager
- Each day will begin with emptying our kettles following the overnight bone broth production. The day will conclude with refilling the kettles with fresh bones. This aspect of the job is highly physical and requires consistent effort.
- Read and interpret recipes accurately, follow procedures precisely, and document all work on batch sheets
- Operate multiple kettles simultaneously, producing soups, cocktail mixes, bone broths, stocks, pasta sauces, dips, salad dressing, and other product lines
- Handle and lift 40lb boxes of bones and other ingredients; manage sheeting and roasting tasks
- Ensure safe and respectful handling of all food products
- Perform sanitation duties, including implementing the Clean in Place (CIP) system
- Adhere to food safety guidelines; ServSafe certification preferred but not required
- Maintain a comfortable working environment in production areas involving hot water and food contact
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in food production or a related field is preferred
- Strong ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate documentation
- Physical ability to lift heavy items and perform tasks that require standing for extended periods
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures; ServSafe certification is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
