Job Title: Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN)**\nJob Summary:\n
An Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures related to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The RN works closely with endoscopy teams, including gastroenterologists, to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes during endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, upper GI endoscopies, and other related interventions.
\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n- \n
- Prepare and care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, ensuring they are informed, comfortable, and ready for the procedure. \n
- Administer medications, including sedation, analgesics, and other supportive treatments as prescribed. \n
- Monitor patients throughout the procedure, providing sedation, assessing vital signs, and ensuring patient safety. \n
- Assist the gastroenterologist during procedures, maintaining sterile technique and ensuring the endoscopy equipment is functioning properly. \n
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate care, provide post-procedure instructions, and assist with patient discharge planning. \n
- Educate patients and families on preparation for endoscopic procedures, post-procedure care, and potential side effects or complications. \n
- Document patient care, procedures, and outcomes accurately and thoroughly. \n
- Monitor patients for complications such as sedation-related issues, bleeding, or infections, and respond appropriately. \n
- Maintain a safe and sterile environment, adhering to infection control protocols. \n
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to endoscopy care and patient safety. \n
- Provide emotional support to patients, addressing anxiety or concerns related to the procedures. \n
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to support the overall care of patients undergoing endoscopic evaluations. \n

- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted. \n
- Licensure:\n

- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. \n

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. \n
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. \n
- Endoscopy Certification (such as CGRN) preferred. \n
