Job Description
The candidate will be responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. The candidate will need to conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications and make adjustments as necessary. This role involves performing cutting, shaping, and trimming blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rules, and hand tools. The candidate will file, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together and fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine tools and hand tools. They will set up and operate drill presses, CNC machine tools such as lathes and mills, to cut, bore, and shape parts to specific dimensions and inspect for errors and specific finishes. The candidate will be responsible for lifting and securing machined parts on surface plates.
Responsibilities- Measure, mark, and scribe metal or plastic stock to lay out machining, using instruments such as protractors, micrometers, and scribes.
- Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.
- Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products.
- Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Tooling, manual machining or die repair certifications from trade schooling
- Exposure to industrial manufacturing processes or 1-2 years of manufacturing
- Ability to multitask different job duties
- Strong communication and coachability
- Carbide tooling experience
- Grinding experience from school or employment
- 4-5 years minimum of journeyman experience in tool and die or 6-8 years of manual machining
- Experience with mills, lathes, and grinding equipment
- Tool servicing or repairing experience
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs occasionally
- Experience with documentation
- Experience with SIP Jig Grinding equipment (machines from Switzerland)
- Carbide and lamination tooling experience
- Jig grinding experience
- 10 plus years and training experience

Work EnvironmentCandidates will be working in a bright and clean tool room facility. The tool room includes 26 total employees, including machinists and the tool and die team.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $45.00
