Summary: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the individuals who maintain and repair the machinery and mechanical equipment used to bake and package extraordinarily quality bread and roll products while adhering to the Production Team’s top commitments of Personal Safety and Food Safety. This individual is a person of integrity & respect that leads and directs the employees through open and honest dialogue and constructive feedback. The Operations Supervisor should also be a proactive thinker, embracing a mindset of thorough planning & continuous improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Sets team expectations and goals in accordance to the Culture Commitments & Bakery Priorities and holds team members accountable to those standards. Manages all aspects of the development of team personnel, including coaching, performance development reviews, training, accountability to expectations, etc. Proactively engages with onboarding and training of new hires and works to incorporate and align with training program expectations. Coordinates and supervises corrective and preventative maintenance. Ensures that work orders are completed according to procedures and communicate work plans with other teams. Communicates necessary scheduled and unscheduled repairs and improvements. Ensures cleanliness and safety of maintenance areas is maintained, including the shops, parts rooms, or any other areas used by the maintenance team. Verifies all parts processes are followed. Works in coordinating with Maintenance Trainer and other maintenance leaders in development and adjustments to maintenance service training on new equipment. Assists with preparation and verification of maintenance procedures(SOPs) Manages the completion of small industrial projects including steps such as assisting in planning stages of projects, updating project schedules, communicating progress to leadership and staff, communicating with suppliers and manufacturers, etc. Maintains a working knowledge of industrial maintenance including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical. Performs activities of workers supervised when needed, including items such as: Performing inspections, disassembly, adjustments, repairs, overhauls, preventative maintenance, lubrication, rebuilds, and troubleshooting on industrial equipment. Inspecting parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, imperfections, and causes of wear. Troubleshooting, resetting, and repairing electrical systems. Performing skilled maintenance activities including welding, brazing, soldering, and plumbing. Operating and maintaining industrial maintenance hand tools and shop tools such as drill press, band saw, grinder, etc. Works with cross-departmental units when needed to address and resolve mechanical/production issues. Ensures all mechanical records are completed successfully, including those relating to personal safety, food safety, quality, productivity, timekeeping, etc. Commits to continued personal learning and development in supervisor role, including increasing emotional intelligence/soft skills, ensuring consistent understanding/enactment of Martin’s policies/procedures, and increasing technical production skills. Adheres to and enforces safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations. Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. Supervisor Responsibilities: Directly supervises maintenance employees in accordance with culture commitments, bakery priorities, company policies/procedure and external laws. Plans, assigns and directs the work of maintenance employees. Trains employees and assesses training results and performance of employees. Responsible for addressing employee complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for coaching, counseling and administering discipline as necessary. Acts as the hiring manager in filling roles for the team. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Two years’ supervisory experience preferred. Four years related maintenance experience. Industrial Maintenance experience preferred. Other Skills and Abilities: Operates forklift, Scissor lift, boomlift, and mobile carts Comfortable working at elevated heights. Mechanically inclined. Knowledge of electrical principles. Ability to work well with a team and work well independently with minimal supervision. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of professional email communications. Knowledge of CMMS Systems. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of building codes and wiring. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools used in industrial maintenance. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance. Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel to facilities outside local area with reasonable notice for limited times, up to 5% of the year.
