Overview

RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Responsibilities

RiverView Health as a full-time (80 hours every 2 weeks) opening for a Substance Use Disorder Peer Support Specialist. The Recovery Peer Support Specialist will provide individualized, strength-based, and client-centered peer support services to individuals in recovery from substance use disorder. Under the supervision of a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, the Recovery Peer will use their lived experience and recovery knowledge to foster hope, promote self-sufficiency, support clients’ recovery goals, and assist clients in building and maintaining skills gained from other treatment services. Salary range is $17.50 to $19.50 and starting wage is dependent on experience.

Qualifications

•  Minimum of one year of sustained recovery from substance use disorder required. •  Must hold or be willing to obtain a credential from one of the following within the first three months of employment (certification must demonstrate skills in Ethics and Boundaries, Advocacy,         Mentoring and Education, and Recovery and Wellness Support):

  • Minnesota Certification Board
  • Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders
  • National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC)
  • For tribally licensed programs: credentialing from a Tribal Nation when applicable.
