CADD Technician

Summary:

This entry-level position provides essential support for assigned projects, utilizing computer-aided drafting tools to design, modify, or edit project documents. The technician will collaborate with experienced engineers on structural observations of existing residential and commercial structures, as well as various phases of new construction.

  • Projects primarily located in North Carolina

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certificate of completion in a drafting/engineering technology program (an associate degree in drafting or equivalent is preferred)

At least 1 year of AutoCAD work experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work
  • Ability to understand and interpret project plan drawings, mechanical designs, and structural fabrication drawings
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for professional correspondence with external customers
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions, detailed sketches, and pre-configured design calculations to create comprehensive project drawings
  • Capability to learn and adapt to new software tools and technologies as needed
  • Physical ability to conduct on-site inspections, which may involve standing, walking, or climbing stairs; reasonable accommodations will be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed layouts, drawings, and designs from sketches, plans, specifications, and written or verbal instructions using computer-aided drafting software
  • Revise or update existing drawings and ensure accuracy
  • Assist engineers with on-site inspections and documentation, including photographing and sketching
  • Conduct simple calculations as directed
  • Operate drafting tools to create construction drawings, renderings, and other design documents
  • Review final drawings for completeness and accuracy
  • Provide support to other designers and engineering staff as needed
  • Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards
  • Assist with report graphics, presentation materials, and other project deliverables
