SCOPE: As an Engineer at REV Fire, you will be responsible for developing world-class, robust engineering solutions to the Fire Apparatus industry, including the design and development of systems installed on Fire Trucks that save lives all around the world. The Engineer is responsible for all stages of a product, from research and development, through design, test & evaluation, manufacturing, to aftermarket care and warranty support. The Engineer at REV Fire is a subject matter expert and is relied upon by other employees and customers for technical guidance and support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Creation or changing mechanical components and systems used on Fire Apparatus.
- Creation of 3D models and drawings to be used to manufacture components.
- Delivery of producible designs to Manufacturing, applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) methodologies to assure form, fit and function.
- Creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOM) in adherence to company standards.
- Participation in customer meetings to understand the design requirements and answer questions regarding product design parameters and/or limitations.
- Providing support during manufacturing to ensure quality and schedule commitments are met.
- Fulfillment of customer requirements (i.e. quotes, shop orders) taking into consideration design rules and all applicable interface points.
- Holding cross-functional design reviews as appropriate to solicit input to deliver a robust design that is producible, avoiding interferences and meeting all industry and company requirements.
- Managing Engineering changes through established processes and documentation.
- All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate Degree in Engineering and at least 5 years' experience or equivalent practical technical experience.
- Proficiency in CAD systems - SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Inventor
- Must be able to meet all Associate Designer qualifications.
- Must have a thorough understanding of design and/or drafting techniques.
- Must have knowledge of extruded aluminum or aluminum sheet metal - or steel plate manufacturing processes.
- Additional requirements as specified by department.
- Knowledge and practical use of drawing and drafting standards is important, including applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and department policies. Knowledge of manufacturing processes with emphasis on metal fabrication / assemblies will be required.
- Useful skills: Awareness and familiarization of regulatory standards - NFPA, DOT, ULC etc. o Knowledge and use of lean manufacturing principles o Problem solving skills including Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why, Is Is-Not, etc

- SolidWorks 3D, Inventor and AutoCAD
- SolidWorks, PDM/PLM, Inventor Vault
- SolidWorks Simulation, Finite Element Analysis software
- Microsoft Office, SharePoint, PowerBI
- ERP systems for parts release: Epicor
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
