The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will play a lead role in developing new methods for machining & assembly operations in electro-mechanical products and final testing. This person will have the opportunity to learn from a current manufacturing engineer on the team that is retiring to assist in on-boarding, but from there, will serve as a technical leader on the team.

Our client is a leading aerospace manufacturer located near Oakbrook, with about 100 employees at the facility which support customers like Boeing, Northrup, Collins Aerospace, and more. They are owned by a parent company that oversees an entire manufacturing portfolio in the U.S. over $1B in annual revenue.

Description

  • Responsible for productivity improvements, automation implementation, and Lean initiatives.
  • Develop and Improve processes in a machine shop and assembly environment.
  • Troubleshooting production issues of mechanical and electrical nature.
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics and troubleshoot/identify component level issues.
  • Develop automation, optimized methods, special tooling & machine/test stand designs for the purpose of cost reduction, quality & process enhancement
  • Drive shop floor CI through lean minded process/flow improvements and cross functional kaizen events.
  • Develops requirements for tooling, fixturing, testing and support equipment.
  • Being involved in capital expenditure discussions
  • Employee's primary duties require him/her to use discretion and independent judgment.
  • Understanding Customer and Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical) requirements and translating them into our processes

Profile

  • 10+ years in manufacturing, with strong experience working on machining & assembly processes
  • Associates Degree or higher education in a technical science or engineering field strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies OR demonstrated experience with process improvement initiatives like: 5S, Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping, Pareto Charts, and more
  • Ability to write work instructions, create documentation for troubleshooting equipment/machinery
  • Experience communicating directly with outside vendors/processors
  • Background successfully leading capital expenditure projects from start to finish

Job Offer

  • Base Salary: $115,000 - $135,000 depending on level of experience
  • 3 weeks vacation + floating holidays
