The Importance of the Role The Director, US Contracts & Pricing helps to develop business case analyses that inform execution of payer and provider contracting strategies to support Sarepta's current and future portfolio. The Director lends insights to inform overall commercial strategy, executes payer contract negotiations, leads rebate adjudications, and assists with gross-to-net forecasting and true-ups. This position reports to the Executive Director, Contracts & Pricing, and works closely with National Accounts, Global Market Access, Trade & Distribution, Finance, and Marketing.
The Opportunity to Make a Difference Assist in developing and implementing US contracting strategies across a spectrum of approaches, including value-based arrangements for all Sarepta products with broader team.
Gross to net management, including planning and forecasting.
Engage internal and external stakeholders to define optimal approaches subject to understanding the current and forecasted reimbursement environment.
Partner with Director, National Account team to design a business case including financials for bids and proposals for various commercial and government payors.
Responsible for guiding the business case through Sarepta's internal approval process.
Draft the bid deck or proposal for the appropriate team member to deliver.
Negotiate contractual terms, conditions, financial proposal and issues related to the agreement with the Account Director and applicable Payer.
Evaluate contract proposals and complete analyses demonstrating account performance in relation to contracted terms and conditions.
Responsible for ensuring contract compliance in accordance with laws and regulations, particularly related to impacts on Government Programs (Medicaid, VA/DOD, 340B) and all statutory pricing, regulations and policy.
Contribute to cross-functional project teams providing reimbursement input to critical decisions/deliverables supporting US price and reimbursement objectives for pre-launch and post-launch products.
In partnership with Finance: Review and monitor the calculations behind reported Government Price values, the status of Medicaid disputes, resolutions, and reconciliations, and assist in resolving related issues as appropriate.
Collaborate on the future state of GP system and resources required and implementing new system in accordance with government regulations and internal policies.
Ensure monitoring and completion of all state price transparency laws/regulations.
Work with other business functions to provide insight on government programs and financial impact analysis resulting from price changes, contracting strategies and other business decisions affecting GP calculations including performing GP calculations and reconciling the calculations with finance.
Other related duties as needed.
More about You BA/BS required, MBA/MS preferred, or comparable experience.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience working in the pharma/biotech industry; prefer at least 3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience working in Contracts & Pricing, National Accounts, Government Pricing, Payer Marketing or Finance; strong understanding of typical functions and procedures.
Possesses recent experience in the successful commercialization of specialty therapies, preferably in the rare disease space
Understanding of the Payer and PBM landscape, current trends in pharmaceutical contracting, in particular for medical benefit products.
Experience working cross-functionally to develop payer contract strategies and the business cases underpinning them.
Experience with rare/orphan diseases, IV, oral, Hospital, and Buy-and-Bill.
Functional knowledge of government pricing such including Medicaid Best Price, AMP, ASP, etc., and the effects commercial contract strategies can have on statutory discounts.
Creative problem-solving abilities, strategic vision, and the ability to explore innovative approaches in an evolving landscape
Ability to quickly forge strong partnerships with both internal and external partners.
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, highly visible, and dynamic environment is critical; able to work effectively in the face of ambiguity and incomplete information.
Ability to influence and lead across functions, as well as operate in a matrix environment.
