The RoleAs a Principal Data Scientist in our Technology Group, you will provide technical leadership in innovating the next generation of AspenTech's Digital Grid Management solutions. We are looking for sharp, disciplined, and highly quantitative individuals, who have a passion for playing with complex data and cutting-edge technologies, in all its forms, including data mining, mathematical modeling and cognitive computing. You will leverage your skills and passion for Machine Learning, AI and Cognitive Computing to enhance AspenTech's Digital Grid Management suite by developing ground-breaking software. Your Impact
Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams of data scientists, engineers, and software developers to design and develop innovative machine learning solutions for the Energy sector, particularly in the convergence of AI and Power Systems. Drive collaboration with customers, product managers, and internal technical teams to identify opportunities for AI integration within our Digital Grid Management portfolio. Develop and execute technology roadmaps and strategies that foster continuous innovation, scalability, and competitive differentiation in our energy management offerings. Evaluate emerging technologies from industry and academia, assessing their potential impact and feasibility to integrate into existing and future software applications. What You'll Need
Master's in computer science, Engineering, Operation Research, or a related major; PhD preferred. 7+ years of experience in data analysis and software development/programming with one or more of Python, Julia, Matlab, C++/C and C#. Experience leading technical teams in modeling, simulation or AI/ML related areas is desirable. Strong expertise required in one of these areas: Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Distributed Energy Resource, SCADA, Contingency Analysis, Power System Optimization. Demonstrated experience with machine learning algorithms (regression, semi-supervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, time series analysis, predictive modeling, data mining, cognitive computing). Familiarity with modelling in simulation software e.g.: PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, Matlab/Simulink or equivalent and respective analytics of results. Experience with LLM, generative AI, MLops, Graph Knowledge, and/or cloud technologies is a plus. History of publishing research and results in the ML field. Problem-solving ability and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to use scientific research to deliver value to customers and are motivated to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. #LI-DW1
