Job Description

Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Data Analyst on our Ceded Reinsurance team.

The Ceded Reinsurance Solutions Team is the Change Management Department within the Ceded Reinsurance Function of Sompo. This role will be integral to the innovation and future transformation of the of the team as the group seeks to develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Ceded Reinsurance Department.

We are searching for an experienced Data and Reporting Analyst to help guide our organization to the future. From researching systems solutions to evaluating their impacts, making recommendations on system implementations, and design and developing solutions to improve the team productivity.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, with a strong background in analytical and system development experience using SQL, VBA, and other development tools. Strong communication skills are highly desirable, along with a proven track record in process improvement initiatives.

What you'll be doing:
  • Reinsurance Applications; Operational ownership, design and development for reinsurance tools and applications such as the Ceded Reinsurance Tool, fac reinsurance control, etc.
  • Application Design and Creation; Collaborate in the design and development of new tools and applications for catastrophe processing and reporting
  • Corporate Projects; support corporate data transformation projects from inception to implementation, including reinsurance impact analysis and testing.
  • Business Analysis; design process enhancements, research & document business issues, develop business requirements, create test case documentation, and training / procedural materials.
  • User Requirements; Determine and develop user requirements for systems in production, to ensure maximum usability
  • Data analysis; Conduct thorough data analysis, reconciliations, and validations to support system enhancement and process improvements
  • UAT; Develop test scenarios, execute test cases, document outcomes, and manage defect resolution.
  • Task plans; Create and maintain plans for every project, with attention to transparent communication at all levels
  • Partnership and Communication; Partner with stakeholders across business units (ex: finance, accounting, operations, etc.) to develop analyses and documentation in a collaborative way, communicating effectively and efficiently with operational and managerial teams
  • Design and implement process controls which meet IAD and SOX control standards.
What you'll bring:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with business analysis and controls & compliance in Financial services, accounting, treasury, insurance, or reinsurance industry
  • Strong Data analysis and reconciliation skills along with strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL, VBA, and other programming languages as well as expertise in Microsoft Office applications, including Access, Excel, and Visio. Ability to produce comprehensive process documentation and reports.
  • Demonstrated success in detailed analysis, user testing, and process improvement initiatives with a strong track record in requirement gathering, documentation, and test case development.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with IT departments in large corporate environments.
  • Proven experience in managing change for enterprise-wide systems
  • Flexibility and adeptness at balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting
Salary Range: $85,000 - $130,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
