Position Description:

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Development and evaluation of advanced analytics models, including creating, validating, analyzing and explaining the data used for model development.
  • Extract, clean, merge, transform and compile data from various data sources, including relational database, flat files, NoSQL databases and unstructured data.
  • Create and present materials on data projects.
  • Provide accurate, relevant and meaningful ad-hoc analysis to management to support strategic and tactical decision-making.
Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum two years of applicable job experience, with a proven ability to make process improvements.
  • Experience with Looker a cloud-based business intelligence (BI) platform designed to explore and analyze data.
  • Must have strong expertise in SQL.
  • Experience with, or understanding of programming (R, Python, Java, or C#).
  • Substantive experience working with structured and unstructured data, including relational databases (SQL Server), flat files (CSV), NoSQL databases (MongoDB) and unstructured data.
  • Must be a highly-motivated self-starter and self-directed learner with a creative mind, high attention to detail and a solution-oriented outlook
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent general business acumen, with the ability to concisely and clearly communicate complex topics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable in-depth understanding of data structures and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with cloud storage and compute on AWS.
  • Must have 3+ years of experience with implementing and managing BI platforms for business intelligence, data applications, and embedded analytics.
  • 2 years of experience in developing LOOKML, Looker Dashboards and Look-Linked Tiles.
  • Experience with, or understanding of statistical techniques, modelling, and machine learning.
  • Build, maintain and administer Looker as the primary BI tool.
  • Must be a Data Explorer using Looker to create and curate content, as well as prior experience with data visualization and building reports.
  • Experience with Looker Explores to query data, validate data accuracy, identify error sources and control content access for security.
  • Experience in Data visualizations, Scheduling and sharing Looks and dashboards, Table calculations, Looker expressions, Custom and advanced filters, Impacts of pivoting.
  • Experience with best practices around designing dashboards, Fundamentals of caching and reporting tools: Tableau, Excel, Power BI, etc.
  • Maintain and debug LookML code, Build user-friendly Explores, Design robust models, Define caching policies, Understand various datasets and associated schemas.
  • Experience with Looker IDE, Text editor, Looker's SQL Runner, Content Validator, LookML Validator and Version control.
  • Implement data security requirements. Analyze data models and business requirements to create LookML objects.
  • Design new LookML dimensions and Build Explores for users to answer business questions and optimize queries and reports for performance.
  • Experience with Looker query builder, Looker SQL generator, LookML models and views.
  • Knowledge with a scripting language (Python, Ruby, etc.) to build data models and ETL workflow modeling.
  • Knowledge of relational Databases or Data Warehouses (Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, etc.)
