The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 35 local health districts. These entities work together to promote healthy lifestyle choices that can combat chronic disease, educate the public about emergency preparedness and threats to their health, and track disease outbreaks in Virginia.

You will serve a vital role in shaping our workforce and sourcing highly qualified applicants for all departments within the Department of Health's Central Office. We are looking for an analytical and proactive professional to support the agency's recruiting initiatives and contribute to a positive workforce culture. What you'll do:
Facilitate all phases of the recruitment process to include:
o Recruitment plan meetings
o Coordination with hiring managers
o Creating accurate and well written job postings
o Screening applications
o Schedule interviews as well as prepare all interview documentation
o Maintaining recruitment files in compliance with VDH and state policy
o Communicate effectively with Human Resources partners and Hiring Managers
o Promote a positive image in representing the agency at Career events/fairs
o Provide weekly updates to hiring managers, managers and other members of HR
o Cultivating strong relationships with Hiring Managers
o And delivering an outstanding candidate experience
The Virginia Department of Health offers 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, retirement plans (including 401a Cash Match and 457 Deferred Compensation Plan) as well as sick, family/personal, and annual leave.
This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) for a 3-year period ending November 2027. The availability of funding is scheduled for before the grant expiration date. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.
Minimum Qualifications
• Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with the full life cycle of recruitment, including sourcing strategies
• Experience in recruiting a variety of roles.
• Knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to human resources, hiring and recruitment.
• Experience utilizing applicant-tracking software or other recruitment tools.
• Knowledge of talent acquisition metrics and reporting
• Excellent relationship building, consultative, and collaboration skills
• Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Proficient with current software packages including Microsoft Office applications
Additional Considerations
• Knowledge of Commonwealth of VA recruitment policies and procedures.
• Experience using state HR systems to include Cardinal and Page U, And/or related HRIS systems such as Service Now
