Reports To: Facilities Manager
General Responsibility: To provide custodial services at assigned sites; ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors. The custodial position is also responsible for performing a variety of special cleaning operations and assisting in preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events.
Status: Full Time, 12-month position; work days and hours will be determined by the Superintendent and Facilities Manager.
Payment Rate: Classified Hourly Rate Schedule
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters of student and staff personnel information, and in the general business of the office operations.
  • Experience in previous custodial or housekeeping jobs is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform all duties as listed below.
  • Complete Criminal Justice Fingerprinting and Background Clearance

Duties Shall Include But Are Not Limited To:
  1. Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities, sporting events, and any other special events held by the district.
  2. Attends unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
  3. Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, restrooms, offices, gyms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
  4. Delivers a variety of items (e.g. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate parties within the district.
  5. Inspects school facilities to ensure that the site meets district standards for safety and cleanliness.
  6. Identifies vandalism, equipment breakage, weather damage, etc. to maintain district standards and attractiveness.
  7. Maintains supplies and equipment to ensure the availability of items that are required to properly maintain all facilities are obtainable.
  8. Monitors and communicates with students and staff in and around work areas to prevent injuries and ensures site safety.
  9. Performs minor job related maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture and fixtures to maintain and make certain various items/equipment are operable.
  10. Performs specialized semi-annual and annual cleanings to maintain the District facilities.
  11. Prepare site for daily operations such as: opening gates, raising flags, sweeping walkways, etc.
  12. Replenish classrooms and restrooms with supplies on a daily basis.
  13. Quickly respond to radio communication efforts or paging efforts for immediate safety concerns or operation concerns.
  14. Respond in a timely fashion to staff inquiries as well as student, visitors, or parent inquiries to provide information, take appropriate actions, or notify correct personnel for situation resolution.
  15. Secure facilities and grounds through closing gates, locking doors, checking all exterior gates and doors to ensure they are locked and turning any lights or equipment off to minimize property damage, equipment loss, or potential liability.

Work Days: Work days and hours will be determined by the Facilities Mananger.
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires medium work that involves walking, standing, crouching, crawling, stooping, climbing, stretching, and lifting at least 85 lbs or more.
  • This position is performed under variable heat conditions (extreme heat, or extreme cold).
