All Candle-lite maintenance positions have a steadfast number one priority to maintain product quality, production equipment, production standards and to keep production downtime to a minimum.
To perform a variety of maintenance tasks that are plantwide in their nature. It would be required to have a good working knowledge of all areas of the facility and the equipment in those areas. The maintenance task list requirements would be as follows but not excluding others:

Eighty (80) hours to become oriented to operational setting.(13) to (18) months on-the-job training to reach a level of proficiency required for adequate performance of assigned tasks. Ability to read blueprints and/or schematics. High school education, or equivalent, is preferred.
The ability to read, write and perform applied mathematics is a necessity. The following Work Keys tests must be successfully completed, by obtaining the required performance level prior to entering the position:
In addition, a mechanical aptitude test, electrical aptitude and blueprint reading test will also be administered. A passing score must be obtained prior to entering this position.

Standing and/or walking 90%; sitting 10%. It will be expected for the individual to be able to climb over/under equipment and machinery to gain access for maintenance. It will also be necessary to be able to climb access stairs and ladders to the top of Prill Towers, storage tanks, plant roof, and elevated maintenance platforms to perform maintenance and inspections. Some heavy lifting will be required in accordance with power tools, equipment and machinery parts. Some working conditions will be in confined and cramped areas. Required at times to work from a ladder.
Frequent visual acuity is required for reading gauges, monitoring/test equipment, blueprints, electrical schematics, charts, etc.
Work Environment
Works inside in normal, inside factory work environment, variable heating, cooling, drafts, operating machinery/equipment noises and material handling equipment. Works outside in all weather conditions; extremes of heat and cold, all forms of precipitation.Exposed to variable intensities of heat from equipment/melted waxes and odors from candle scents. Sump-pump working conditions are in confined sub-basement areas. Required at times to work from a ladder or in confined spaces.
Required wearing necessary personal protective equipment when performing job duties. This PPE will vary from job to job functions. This equipment may include welding and cutting shields, sleeves, rubber aprons and hi-voltage electrical protection. Certain areas of the plant require the use of ear protection.
Exposed to cuts from sharp metal edges, glass, etc. associated with working on equipment/machinery; electrical hazards from both high and low voltage systems; minor burns from overheated equipment or machinery and wax/steam/hot water distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Troubleshoot and analyze problem machinery, equipment, utility and wax handling systems. Facilitate necessary electrical, mechanical, plumbing, construction, welding, cutting, and similar miscellaneous repairs requiring some machine tool work. Notify supervision of need for additional tooling and machining operations and maintains management records.
- Attend meetings as required. Develop written Documentation of Procedures for use by others, including Preventative Maintenance Procedures, Maintenance Operating Procedures and Training Documentation. Work alone or in conjunction with Teams.
- Provides guidance and recommendations for preventative maintenance needs, performs preventative maintenance operations.
- Works from manuals, prints, drawings, sketches and written/verbal instructions.
- Helps the maintenance supervisor maintain stock supplies and notifies supervisor/leadman of irregularities in operating conditions of equipment, defective materials, incorrect operating procedures, broken or worn parts, incorrect or low stock inventories, machine work requirements and any other condition not aforementioned that would affect the maintenance of the facility and its equipment.
- Must be proficient in all aspects of maintenance concerning the facility whether it be mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, piping, steam, new construction, metal fabrication, welding, use of cutting torch and machine work.
- Must have a good working knowledge of the procedures for the set-up position.
- Must be able to take instructions and give those same instructions to the maintenance apprentice in the manner in which they can be readily understood and completed.
- On the job training for Maintenance, new hires will be partially conducted by the general mechanic group to acclimate new personnel to the facility and show the variety of work to be performed throughout the facility.
- Responsible for specified record keeping requirements as necessary for requirements of the maintenance department. This includes the filling out of purchase requisitions, MP2 work order system, and any other maintenance documentation.
- Participation on the PEO (Plant Emergency Organization) team and other committees as needed.
