Job Summary Professor Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz is a pioneering developmental biologist and stem cell scientist. Her lab employs a multidisciplinary approach to investigate fundamental questions in cell fate specification, symmetry breaking, and self-organization in mouse and human embryos. The lab was the first to build stem cell-based models from embryonic and extra-embryonic stem cells, making groundbreaking contributions to the field. With a strong focus on scientific innovation, the lab consistently publishes high-impact research in journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell. Given the broad relevance and societal impact of this research, science communication and knowledge translation are key priorities for the lab. The Zernicka-Goetz lab is currently seeking a Administrative Assistant and Communications Specialist. This pivotal team member will work directly with Professor Zernicka-Goetz on a range of tasks, blending science communication and administrative responsibilities. Our group website: https://zernickagoetzlab.com Essential Job Duties Assist in the creation and management of science communication materials, including drafting publications, outreach content, and presentations related to the lab's work Lead projects related to the intersection of art and science, finding creative ways to visualize and communicate complex scientific concepts Assist in the preparation of reports for funding bodies and other stakeholders Manage the lab's website and other digital platforms to effectively share the lab's work with broader audiences Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, travel, managing the Principal Investigator's calendar, processing travel and P-Card expenses, and coordinating lab activities Act as the lab's liaison for both internal and external communications, ensuring smooth and efficient exchanges with collaborators, funding bodies, and the broader scientific community Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree 3 years of related experience Excellent writing skills A passion for science communication and the ability to translate complex scientific concepts for different audiences Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively Creative mindset with an interest in combining art and science to enhance public engagement with research Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or science writing. Experience in scientific writing, drafting research papers, and grant proposals Experience in digital content creation and management (e.g., website management, social media) Experience with illustration software.
