Associate Director, Global Commercial Strategy Povetacicept (Pove)
Location:
Boston, MA (3 days onsite/2 days remote weekly – must be based locally) Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking an Associate Director of Global Commercial Strategy reporting to the VP Global Commercial Lead for Povetacicept (Pove) to join our dynamic team in Boston, MA. The candidate will take responsibility for supporting the development of the global marketing tactics to support the launch of Pove including positioning, messaging, brand identity, disease education, and brand naming process. The candidate will play a key role in contributing to the development and execution of the Pove launch plan. A key deliverable in 2025 will be developing global positioning and messages and in crafting the disease education strategy for Pove. The individual will partner closely with cross-functional matrix and regional colleagues to ensure attainment of corporate objectives. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, thrive in an environment of uncertainty and rapid change, demonstrate strong leadership, work effectively within cross-functional teams, and have a problem-solving mindset backed by strong analytical skills. The candidate must share our passion for science-based brands that can dramatically improve patients' lives. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Develop strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to support business goals. Ensure appropriate metrics are in place to measure the impact of tactics in the field. Lead and manage agency partners to ensure on-budget and timely deliverables. Develop and manage one or more related teams and set departmental priorities to align with business objectives. Partner with brand/team-lead to help shape the brand strategy, segment the market, develop messaging, and launch into new segments, including label expansions. Direct the development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans for Pove. Collaborate with Vertex external communications review committee to approve materials for external use with customers. Drive and execute commercial strategies for pipeline products, creating a clear strategic story, and communicate that strategy to the wider Vertex organization. Focus on performing all company business in accordance with regulations and company policies and procedures. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in life sciences; postgraduate preferred. Typically requires 8+ years of work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. In-country launch experience, particularly in immunology; US market experience required and multiple-market experience highly desired. Experience in global marketing, new product planning/commercial development as well as commercial operations or analytics desirable, especially involving product launches in highly competitive markets with potential for expansion into multiple indications. Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage initiatives that require collaboration across multiple functional areas. An entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems. Strategic thinker with strong operational execution on tactical initiatives. Proven ability to work in a cross-functional team setting (regional marketing, clinical, medical affairs, health economics, sales, managed markets, regulatory, legal, R&D, project management). Results-oriented and excellent analytical, strategic, business planning, communication, and decision-making skills. Capacity to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, multi-task, and self-prioritize workload.
