Job Overview: The Vice President of Procurement at Prime Data Centers will lead procurement efforts for hyperscale data center projects across Prime’s portfolio. Reporting to the EVP, Product Delivery, North America, this critical role will support long-term procurement strategies that align with the company’s high-growth objectives and establish strategic partnerships with vendors, manufacturers, and service providers. This role directly collaborates with executive leadership to ensure procurement strategies support the company’s long-term growth and scalability.
Based in Denver, CO, this pivotal role will drive the further growth and development of a high-performing procurement team. Additionally, this position will improve procurement processes to deliver a competitive advantage while ensuring seamless project execution, cost efficiency, and innovation in the delivery of hyperscale data center facilities.
Key Responsibilities: Grow and manage a high-performing procurement team and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the procurement organization. Source and manage global and local vendors, ensuring the supply base aligns with the company's strategic goals and standards for quality, innovation, and cost-effectiveness. Oversee vendor onboarding processes to streamline integration into the supply chain and maintain a robust database of approved vendors. Develop and manage comprehensive partner scorecards to evaluate vendor performance, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. Partner with internal teams, including construction, engineering, acquisitions, and operations, to align procurement activities with project timelines and objectives. Lead both direct and indirect procurement efforts, balancing cost-efficiency with strategic value creation. Negotiate and manage Master Service Agreements (MSAs) to secure the best terms and pricing with partners, ensuring contracts meet compliance standards and align with business goals. Collaborate on procurement of electrical, mechanical, MEP, and construction materials to meet project-specific needs. Promote and implement sustainability practices in procurement activities, ensuring suppliers align with Prime Data Centers' environmental and social responsibility goals. Accurately forecast and plan for spare parts and equipment needs, minimizing downtime and ensuring project readiness. Track and manage equipment inventory locations to identify opportunities for reallocating capital assets, reducing costs, and enhancing efficiency. Analyze category spend management opportunities to uncover cost-saving initiatives and process efficiencies. Deploy strategic plans that align with market conditions and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement. 5+ years experience in a leadership role. Proven experience managing procurement for hyperscale or large-scale construction projects, preferably in the data center industry. Strong negotiation skills and expertise in managing MSAs and complex contracts. Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Extensive experience with global supply chains, including vendor management, logistics, and risk mitigation. Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
