Job Summary & Responsibilities
Demonstrated knowledge of strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier relationship management
Responsible for developing and implementing Strategic Sourcing strategies for assigned Commodities including:
Assess Current & Future Requirements: Need to map direct and indirect requirements and work with cross functional teams such as engineering to create full understanding of the market and competitive landscape. Subject matter expert of the commodity: Identify multiple potential suppliers who can meet our requirements. Assess their reliability, reputation, financial stability, production capacity, quality control, and their ability to meet our product and operational requirements. Commercial Approach: Negotiate long-term contracts with selected suppliers to provide stability and assurance of supply. Contracts should clearly define quality standards, delivery schedules, pricing and business continuity planning or any contingencies in case of supply disruptions or changes. Responsible for managing schedule and task details by utilizing project management tools such as reports, tracking charts, checklist and project scheduling software. Ensure all key suppliers have executed Supply Master Agreements, and are completing monthly scorecards. Ensure that the supply base is capable and has the capacity to handle our volume requirements, including the ability to handle surge requirements. Manage long-term partnerships by implementing supplier development strategies that provide greater capabilities to Onto Innovation and provide plans for reductions in cost and lead times.
Engage key business stakeholders and be actively involved in Operations strategic planning, supplier development, and field service improvements.
Lead internal Onto Commodity Council with key stakeholders for assigned responsibilities. Drive strategic procurement initiatives to optimize supply, risk mitigation and flexibility, quality improvement, and improvements in lead time and cost. Analyze existing processes and communications with suppliers to improve the information communicated to and from suppliers and summarizes actions to be taken between organizations. Provide oversight of procurement related activities for suppliers directly responsible. Be actively engaged in the development and execution of ECO’s with the supply base and be proactive in managing sourcing strategies for end of life components. Ensure the supply base is properly managing and executing Supplier Quality Actions, discrepant materials, return to vendor transactions, and repair/refurbishment that are in or out of warranty. Responsible for managing schedule and task details by utilizing project management tools such as reports, tracking charts, checklist and project scheduling software. Coordinate and lead QBR with Key Suppliers for assigned Commodities.
Develop short & long-term strategies using market analysis, user requirements, and company objectives for assigned commodities.
The position requires an understanding of quantitative techniques relevant to sourcing functions (i.e., TCO modelling, “should cost” analysis, RFP analysis, negotiation evaluation, and financial modelling). Identify make vs. buy opportunities and drive alignment/decision with key stakeholders. Drive the evaluation of supplier performance. Collaborate effectively with leadership at suppliers to address sourcing issues. Ensure decision making and prioritization processes are in place and utilized. Negotiate and formalize supplier agreements which require knowledge of the various contractual vehicles that are available.
Responsible for developing and implementing a Sourcing/Operations strategy for New Product introduction
Collaborates with engineering team to understand engineering requirements and communicate to supplier in a cohesive manner. Works with engineering to identify preliminary critical parts, long-lead parts and inspection requirements. Assists and/or leads in developing supplier and commodity road maps to engineering. Utilizes value analysis on build-to-print components in support of Should Cost analysis. Ensure that product lifecycle programs (PLC) are meeting material cost targets and Gross Margin targets; facilitate and maintain Cost Apportionment Models. Provides engineering and business process expertise to team and other members on various significantly complex programs/issues.
Qualifications BA in Business, preferred Supply Chain or other quantitative field, or comparable experience. Minimum of 10+ years of operational experience with at least 5 years being in a successful Supply Chain management role. Good working knowledge of ERP systems, and understands the roles of Master Scheduling, Material Planning and Procurement. Able to establish relationships and trust within the organization and the supply base. Able to communicate effectively and succinctly on the needs of the business, the plan to achieve those needs, and the status of those plans. Highly motivated self-starter. Drives for results. Deals well with ambiguity. Outstanding quantitative skills. Thinks strategically. Innovative. Strong negotiating skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Shows work commitment.
