POSITION OVERVIEW: Disc Medicine is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join our organization as Vice President, Legal and Chief Compliance Officer. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this individual will serve as a key legal advisor, working closely with the commercial and medical organizations to ensure the successful and compliant launch of our late-stage therapeutic assets. This successful candidate will provide strategic legal and compliance leadership, focusing on all aspects of commercialization, including pre-launch activities, regulatory compliance, promotional review, market access, and risk management. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in life sciences, legal and compliance functions, with a track record of supporting commercial operations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with the commercial and medical affairs organization to navigate legal and compliance challenges associated with product launch and market entry. Review and advise on commercial strategies, including pricing, market access, advertising, and promotional materials. Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, anti-kickback statutes, and other applicable healthcare laws related to commercialization. Negotiate and draft agreements with commercial partners, distributors, and vendors supporting the launch strategy. Develop and implement a robust compliance program tailored to pre- and post-commercialization activities. Build compliance systems to ensure compliance with transparency reporting laws. Conduct compliance training for commercial teams to ensure understanding of regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Oversee processes for the review and approval of promotional materials, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory standards. Proactively identify and address potential compliance risks in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Provide strategic legal guidance on regulatory filings and interactions with regulatory agencies as they relate to commercialization. Support corporate governance activities and advise on issues related to public disclosure, contracts, and intellectual property as needed. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of legal and compliance considerations into commercial operations. Foster a positive workplace culture that prioritizes collaboration, ensures accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement. REQUIREMENTS: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to practice law in Massachusetts preferred. 15+ years of legal experience, with a focus on supporting commercial operations in the biopharmaceutical or life sciences industry. Comprehensive understanding of FDA regulations, healthcare compliance laws, government pricing laws, and commercial launch strategies. Proven ability to partner effectively with commercial teams to achieve business goals while mitigating legal and compliance risks. Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience supporting product launches and navigating the complexities of commercialization in the healthcare sector is highly preferred.
