HVAC Service Manager

We are an established Air Conditioning and Heating company in Central Florida. We are looking for a HVAC Service Manager, who will report to the General Manager and or the Owner and be responsible for supervising, managing, and supporting the HVAC service technician group. The HVAC Service Manager is expected to:
• Oversee the inspection, testing, startup, warranty and repair of heating, cooling, and ventilating systems in residential and commercial buildings.
• Interact with the service and sales coordinators to manage project scheduling, manpower utilization, parts availability, and overall workflow.
• Interact with the HVAC sales team to ensure proper implementation and customer satisfaction of systems sold and serviced by us.
Job Description
  • Manage day to day operations of all reporting HVAC Service Technicians. This position is also the first line of technical support for all direct reporting HVAC technicians.
  • Communicates daily with service coordinators, reporting on project information about equipment, estimated time to complete jobs, labor hours, and parts used. Works closely with the service coordinators to assure that the manpower is being scheduled properly by skill level and efficiency and training requirements. Ensures coordinators produce customer invoices in a timely manner. Checks HVAC technician work assignments, job completion status, scheduling, and customer quotes.
  • Makes sure that required parts are ordered by service coordinators without delay to ensure work deadlines are met.
  • Review daily service tickets and assure that repair quotes are submitted to the customer quickly and accurately by coordinators and are billed out correctly.
  • Ensure that all company/department policies are being followed by all reporting HVAC service technicians.
  • Oversees assigned HVAC service van fleet. Monitors all trucks to ensure they are being maintained and operated as required and used according to company policies. This includes ensuring that the technicians are able to work out of the vehicle efficiently and that parts stocked in each van is adequate. Monitor that in-truck parts inventory is kept at proper levels. Review technicians GPS records periodically for safety and efficiency of vehicle operation. Properly operates and maintains assigned Company Vehicle.
  • Keeps current with latest factory OEM training on current products. Manages technician personnel training records, and training schedules for all OEM products supported. Ensures technicians maintain proficiency in preventive maintenance, startup, troubleshooting, and repairs of supported equipment.
  • Ensures currency of all HVAC technicians' ability to train customers and contractors on proper operation of installed equipment.
  • Manages larger start-up and commissioning projects. Directs team of installing contractors. Efficiently completes the turnover of equipment to owner. Performs pre-startup inspections after notification from contractor before factory startup is scheduled.
  • Interfaces with the customer on a professional basis and presents the company in a positive light.
  • Answers technical questions from all Service Technicians. Presents self as a senior representative of the company.
  • Is responsible for maintaining HVAC service department safety compliance. Works in a safe manner. Fully understands and applies industry standard safety practices including OSHA and all applicable work related safety standards. Monitors, and enforces technician's compliance to those practices and company safety policies.
  • Responsible for HVAC technicians' performance appraisals and personal goal setting using current company performance management software.
Qualifications
Has in depth operational understanding of HVAC systems including DX systems, VRF, Heat Pump, etc.
  • Has ability to read, interpret, utilize and train on manuals, schematics, and control circuits.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent leadership skills to enhance team productivity and standards of work produced
  • Excellent communication and conflict management skills
  • Five years HVAC Management related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some post-high school education from college, military, or trade school
  • Proficient in ServiceTitan Dispatch or other dispatch program, Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work a nonstandard work schedule, weekends, and holidays as required.
