Job Details:
Purpose
Performs perfusion services to support a full spectrum of pediatric and congenital surgery including cardiac transplantation, mechanical assist devices, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), adult congenital surgery, and neonatal surgery.
Responsibilities
* Assembles, operates and disassembles the heart lung machine within the accepted safe scope of established clinical practice. Provides total patient support during cardiopulmonary bypass.
* Sets up and operates ECMOs, Cell Savers, Rapid Infusion devices and all available perfusion devices which may involve the use of X-rays or fluoroscopy as a diagnostic aid in the procedure.
* Manages the patient parameters within the accepted safe ranges of established clinical practice. Supports organ transplants, and perioperative VAD and ECMO support.
* Participates in departmental administrative activities in conjunction with CV Surgeons and CV Administration.
* Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and completion of an accredited school of perfusion and eligible to take the certification examination of the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and/or currently a CCP in good standing. Valid Texas Perfusionist license required.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
At least five years of related experience and in depth knowledge of pediatric cardiovascular anomalies and cardiovascular procedures, cardiac drugs, and blood components. Extensive experience with ECMO and VADs is preferred. Certification as a Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) preferred.
Salary Range
$155,000+ depending on qualifications
