Type of Position:

6 month contract role to start. Likely for renewal, good chance of direct hire after contract.

Candidate Requirements:

This role is working for a major defense contractor. Candidates MUST be either US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders). Candidates who are on CPT, OPT, H1B or TN visas are not eligible for this role. This company is NOT open to corp2corp (c2c) or corp2hire (c2h).

Job Location:

Fridley, MN (on site role). Relocation assistance may be available for non-local candidates.

Compensation:

$57.83/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

Overview:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major defense contractor to hire a Senior Creo Designer (Electrical, Mechanical). This role will support program initiatives by creating innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. This role involves collaboration with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality teams, and customers to ensure design specifications are met. You will ensure designs are free from defects and adhere to layout processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop mechanical and electro-mechanical designs using Computer Aided Design (CAD) methodologies.
  • Create and refine complex design layouts, schematics, and sketches to meet functional and system requirements.
  • Review and verify engineering documents, ensuring compliance with engineering and military standards (MILSPEC/STD), specifications, and accurate calculations.
  • Provide technical consultation to both the internal team and customers, leveraging deep knowledge of design principles.
  • Prepare drawing packages that conform to military and ASME standards.
  • Work closely with systems engineers to ensure designs meet contractual obligations and specifications.
  • Evaluate the producibility and viability of completed designs, including tolerances, fits, finishes, materials, and integration requirements.
  • Ensure that CAD models are optimized for transition to modeling and simulation software.
  • Prepare and review test plans, procedures, and reports, ensuring clarity and adherence to industry standards.
Skills, Experience, Education Required:
  • Minimum of 9 years of design/drafting experience using the Pro-E/Creo CAD system, with a focus on advanced design concepts and applications.
  • Creo 7 experience is mandatory.
  • Associate degree in engineering drafting/design or equivalent combination of education and experience. High School Diploma or GED is required at a minimum.
  • Proficiency in tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Expertise in CAD software, specifically Pro-E/Creo, with experience in 3D modeling and file manipulation.
  • In-depth knowledge of military drawings, MILSPEC standards, and engineering specifications.
  • Understanding of production methods, human factors, and product line knowledge across component, subsystem, and system levels.
Skills, Experience, Education Preferred:
  • Familiarity with Model Based Definition (MBD) methodologies is a significant advantage.
  • Prior experience in defense-related design, particularly within military combat vehicle programs.
Work Environment:
  • This is a 1st (day) shift which will be on a 9/80 schedule (9-hour days, every other Friday off). Typical schedule is 7:00am to 4:30pm.
  • There may be occasional overtime in this role. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x.
