Mid Valley Recycling is currently seeking applicants for our dynamic Material Recovery Facility (MRF) as an Equipment Operator. In this role you will help Mid Valley Recycling by supporting our MRF Team and will be responsible for running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving a loader while ensuring that all his/her efforts are compliant with the company health, safety, and environmental standards. Duties may include the operation of one or several types of power equipment to assist in the loading, unloading, and movement of material within the Materials Recovery Facility.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WOULD BE EXPECTED TO:
- Reliable, consistent attendance is a requirement and essential function.
- Strictly adheres to all Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
- Safely operate heavy power equipment to move materials in the facility.
- Transport bulk materials to storage areas and scales to feed conveyors using the loader.
- Load and move equipment or materials while coordinating machine actions with other yard activities in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
- Safely load waste with appropriate weight using the loader.
- Under the supervisor's direction, the lead will delegate tasks, set deadlines, and oversee daily team's operation.
- Perform daily equipment inspections of assigned equipment and document checks utilizing the standard Daily Equipment Inspection (DEI) form and submit to the appropriate Supervisor.
- Maintain scale clean to avoid cross-contamination.
- Safely clear pathways for traffic.
- Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Supervisor.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by the company.
- Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
- Report all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions requiring maintenance or repair to the proper Supervisor.
- Notifies Supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1 year of experience with heavy machinery, preferably with a loader
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and to follow safe operating practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills relating to good customer service
- Solid Waste industry experience preferred but not required
- Ability to communicate effectively both written/verbal
- Exceptional listening, communication, follow-through, and interpersonal skills
- Tenacious, critical thinking, detail-oriented problem solver
- Leadership experience
This is a full-time position with a benefits package. Hourly rate will be determined based on experience and training of the candidate. Schedule will be Monday through Saturday.
