Description Position: Custodian Status/Hours: Temporary- PT, 24 hours/week (Monday-Friday) Supervisor: Corps Officer General Statement: The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church, and the ultimate goal of all programs is spiritual regeneration of all people. General Description: Under the direction of the Corps Officers, the Custodian is responsible for keeping the facilities looking sharp, clean, and well-maintained. When instructed, the Custodian will prepare Transitional Housing unit(s) for the next program participant. Requirements: Ability to work in line with the mission of The Salvation Army, including a good work attitude and professional deportment Detail-oriented and attention to detail Self-starter Ability to utilize effective time management Neat personal appearance. Demonstrated working knowledge of general cleaning duties. Demonstrated painting skills and ability to paint. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Adherence to the Employee Code of Ethics and the Employee Manual. Ability to represent The Salvation Army well by giving information to visitors and to tactfully tell clients that we are not able to take their donated items. Must complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines, including the ability to pass a TSA background check Must have a valid Montana State Driver’s license and ability to pass TSA MVR check and in-house driving test Specific Duties: Keep the building clean, attractive, and well-maintained inside and out. Maintain attractive grounds performing basic functions such as cutting grass, weed eating, shoveling snow, etc. Clean and sanitize restrooms. Per the detailed daily list (attached) and as the need is observed: clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; empty waste baskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs as needed, and refill restroom dispensers. Maintain the lawn mower, weed eater, vacuum cleaner, and other equipment, and ensure they are in good working order. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed. Unload Gift In Kind donations as needed. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent of continuous basis Ability to do physical labor, including use of garden tools, cleaning equipment, and utilizing cleaners and detergents. Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects and equipment such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, brooms and mops, and use paint brushes and rollers for long periods. Ability to move furniture and transport heavy objects from donations. Ability to move furniture when mopping and vacuuming.
