We are in search of a highly skilled Experienced Substation CAD Drafter to work a hybrid schedule out of our Houston office.

You will collaborate closely with our CAD Lead/Manager, substation design engineers, and fellow drafters in a dynamic environment to tackle drafting and detailing tasks utilizing MicroStation and AutoCAD software for various utility clients. This role demands advanced CAD drafting knowledge and skills to ensure the efficient completion of complex projects while producing high-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities - In this position, the qualified individual will be expected to:

• Execute routine to medium-high complexity drafting tasks while adhering to client and local standard procedures.
• Generate and modify drawings based on engineering markups, emphasizing detail on:
• Protection & Control, SCADA, and Communications drawings including layouts, one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and related documentation.
• Physical Electrical drawings such as plans, sections, elevations, details, and related materials.
• Maintain organization and efficiency in task completion.
• Meet deadlines in a fast-paced engineering and production environment.
• Comply with all applicable CAD standards and procedures.
• Deliver top-quality work products consistently to the engineering team.
• Utilize prior experience to independently manage non-routine, specialized, and customized drafting tasks.
• Complete tasks with a high degree of speed and accuracy requiring:
• Expertise in Drafting Software - High
• Specialized Engineering Drafting Practices - High
• Other Knowledge Requirements:
• Workspace Setup and Maintenance - Low
• CAD Programming Languages - Low

Core Qualifications - The following qualifications are necessary for this position:

• Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in drafting and detailing with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Thorough understanding of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures.
• Proficiency in manipulating vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineering markups with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficient with Windows operating systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Experience with document management and collaboration tools like ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint, etc.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, within a team environment.
• Must be highly organized and efficient.

• Capability to understand and apply diverse client CAD standards.
• Adeptness in performing tasks in a fast-paced engineering and production setting.

Additional Qualifications - The following qualifications will also enhance your application:

• Experience with 3-D modeling in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical and Bentley Substation.
• Knowledge of VBA and/or Auto Lisp.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
