SUMMARY

Responsible for supporting the administration and continued development of DSSA, Inc. accounting programs to achieve cost control and profit management by line and product group while ensuring compliance with Federal, State and Global regulations. Emphasis of this position includes the responsibility for a variety of DSSA, Inc. owned entities and general ledger account balances while maintaining the ability to meet deadlines and working simultaneously on multiple accounting projects as directed. Reports to the Accounting Manager and is physically located in the DSSA Inc., Arizona location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Support Accounting Manager with month end close, budgeting process, and setting proper duty and due dates for each department.
  • Support Accounting Manager with external & internal auditing as well as internal control processes by working directly with contracted consulting firms and the by the Daicel Group.
  • Support Accounting Manager with posting and maintenance of general ledger accounts, payroll transactions, accounts payable and general ledger adjustments.
  • Provide financial analysis statements including monthly balance sheets, income statements, cash flows statements, and actual to budget and previous year's variance analysis as requested by the Daicel Group.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to financial management, budget and accounting.
  • Collect and provide Accounting Manager information for audit inquiries and give assistance to auditors.
  • Develop and prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Work with manager to maintain monthly financial statements such as Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Intercompany Accounts, Cashflow, various Sales Reports, etc.
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records for the international subsidiaries.
  • Execute and assist in the preparation of financial statements for foreign consultants, including but not limited to intercompany billings and monthly payroll.
  • Analyze and maintain monthly actual production costs and variances from established standards.
  • Update the month-end reporting and maintain the Accounts Receivable Customer Base in the Syspro system
  • Interpret and apply GAAP to non-recurring transactions.
  • Respond to correspondence and information requests from various tax and government agencies.
  • Assist and support in audits with various external entities.
  • Assist department Managers in analyzing and determining monthly accounting results.
  • Responsible for specialized accounting projects as needed.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum educational experience requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or other closely related field. CPA certification or Master's degree in a business related discipline a plus. Minimum experience required of 5 years in accounting. Experience in a multi-business unit manufacturing environment highly preferred as well as hands on experience utilizing Syspro or financial software similar to Syspro. Previous experience working within a Japanese manufacturing environment and the ability speak and read Japanese is highly desired.

QUALIFICATIONS

The individual must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of federal regulations related to global accounting applications. Strong financial skills and understanding of GAAP regulations required. Project management skills is a plus. Ability to problem solve and work effectively with all levels of employees and management in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with an emphasis on spreadsheet preparation, a working knowledge of Syspro, and knowledge of other accounting programs. The individual must have excellent analytical skills, communication skills, organization skills as well as be detail oriented. Must also be able to effectively prioritize the workload. This position also requires the ability to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules, and regulations associated with this position which are written in English. Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet business needs.
