The Production Supervisor role oversees the production line and operations on the production floor to ensure quality of product and delivery, under the supervision of the Production Manager. The Production Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of production associates, on their specifically assigned shift. Works closely with maintenance, quality, and shipping and will assume responsibility of operations in the absence of the Production Manager, while on shift.

  • Directs a production team of up to 20 associates per shift.
  • Monitors product quality by ensuring customers' requirements are met, self-testing is performed and analyzed, in accordance with procedures and production specifications.
  • Provides training, leadership, and coaching to associates to create a culture of inclusion and engagement.
  • Works with management team to evaluate the performance of individual associates upon new hire and at periods of 30, 60 & 90 days (if necessary) and annually, per company guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring and maintaining a safe work environment through compliance of all company, Local, State and Federal mandates, and internal safety programs.
  • Drives a Continuous Improvement (CI) environment by improving products, service, and processes with the objective to reduce waste, while striving for efficiency.
  • Demonstrates support of General Bakery Safety, Food Safety Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure adherence to all quality requirements including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and performs regular line inspections to evaluate, implement and enforce.
  • Ensures production associates execute and maintain records for all phases of production, as required.
  • Completes staff scheduling to ensure production lines are adequately staffed and coordinates with other departments to minimize downtime.
  • Provides cross training to associates for maximum coverage of production line.
  • Supervise and control completion of established standards regarding consumption, quality, and yield by using KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). Utilize root cause analysis to identify problems and implement corrective actions to improve the performance of the production lines.
  • Conducts incident investigations, responsible for first reporting processes, communicates to upper management and works with internal departments for preventative action implementation.
  • Develop and maintain quality and safety food standards.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of supervisory is a plus and/or leadership role in food manufacturing preferred although not required.
  • Work with all supervisors to pass on communication that will avoid quality or downtime issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of food manufacturing process. Baking process experience is a plus.
  • Adequate experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Strong written and oral interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of safe work practices, GMPs, incident investigation techniques permit to work systems, management of change and safety & environmental regulations.
  • Ability to facilitate efficient cooperation between departments.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and react to changing priorities.
  • Ability to assess, prioritize and resolve plan issues.
  • Knowledgeable in HACCP and SQF.
