Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee and manage the engineering projects and processes essential with rotational molding.
  • Review/oversee/develop tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Work collaboratively with operations and manufacturing personnel.
  • Review, refine and develop processes for project management, maintenance, BOM updates and engineering training.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and procedures by studying current product manufacturing methods, determining root cause corrective action plans, and successfully implementing solutions to the floor.
  • Draft and design plant layout visions in AutoCAD presenting equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate lean manufacturing product flow.
  • Provide concept designs, prototypes, and pre-production samples for development testing.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the design and development of new rotationally molded products and processes.
  • Manage and support the implementation of new equipment and technology to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with quality control, engineering, and other departments to ensure that products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Conduct cost analysis and make recommendations for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings and progress.
  • Mentor and train junior team members to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Manufacturing Engineer Qualifications & Skills

    • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
    • Rotational molding and/or blow molding plastic manufacturing experience.
    • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, and proven ability to implement lean tools.
    • Working knowledge of Six Sigma DMAIC strategy used to improve, optimize, and stabilize manufacturing processes and designs.
    • Possess strong ME and IE skill sets that will be utilize in value stream transformations.
    • Technical expertise reading 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
    • Communication skills that allow for participation in customer meetings and team projects.
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools.
    • A degree in plastics engineering is a plus.
