MMC Group is hiring for a Fabrication Inspector for our client in the Hudson, MA area!
The client is a contracted quality control company, that assists their clients with a variety of industries and services. This particular role will assist with overseeing the quality of materials, fabrication, welding, and installation of materials for construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Inspections are performed on stainless steel tubing systems to satisfy the project specification and applicable piping code and/or standard requirements. Typical piping codes include B31.3, and typical standards include ASME BPE. The welding process is the automatic GTAW for all process systems.
- Critical systems require documentation to demonstrate materials of construction, qualified welding procedures, qualified welders, visual weld inspections, installation verification (ISO drawings, P&ID, hangers, slope), and pressure testing. Comprehension of project specifications and applicable code / standard requirements is vital. Good Documentation Practices (GDP) are required when completing project documentation.
- Communicates with fabrication contractors and customers regarding project specification and code requirements including resolution of quality issues. Non-complying issues are required to be documented in accordance with the established project quality plan.
Material Inspection or Verification:
- Verify materials meet project specification requirements.
- Verify materials are properly identified, segregated, stored, and handled by line classification requirements from receipt through final installation.
- Perform visual material inspection including tube weld seam borescope inspection as required and document the findings to ensure items meet required project specifications.
- Perform material dimensional and surface roughness testing as required and document the findings to ensure items meet required project specifications.
- Perform material documentation verification (packing list, material test reports, certificates of conformance, etc.) verification to ensure items meet required project specifications.
- Document material inspections on specific reports and logs.
- Assemble or verify materials of construction documentation in accordance with project turnover package requirements.
Fabrication / Installation Verification & Inspection:
- Verify fabricator/contractor conformance to project specifications for process systems.
- Verify welding operator qualification records.
- Verify conformance to welding procedures.
- Verify welding gas conformance to project specification requirements.
- Verify correct materials of construction to ISO drawings and project specifications.
- Verify heat number traceability for all piping materials on specified systems.
- Verify fabrication and installation to ISO drawings.
- Perform direct visual and borescope (remote visual) weld inspection and document inspections on reports and ISO drawings.
- Inspect system fabrication and mechanical joints in accordance with project specifications.
Installation Verification:
- Verify hangers/supports meet project specification requirements for each system.
- Verify ISO drawings are accurate to the installation and the installation is accurate to the P&ID.
- Perform and document slope verification on specified systems.
- Generate punch lists per system and verify corrective action.
- Verifying all required documentation on specified systems is complete and meets project specifications.
System Testing Verification:
- Verity pressure tests and documented test package.
- Verify pressure test media, pressure, duration, and test boundary.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in fabrication shops or at the manufacturing facility.
- The manufacturing facility may be a construction site or an existing facility. The work may involve working on ladders, working in scissor lifts, climbing, working from heights, walking, or lifting objects.
Requirements:
- Previous documented experience in the VT method is acceptable towards a VT Level 2 certification after requirements have been satisfied.
- Current CWI or ACCP Level 2 VT is preferred but not required.
- Mechanical aptitude is a key qualification.
- Have a valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship for any length of time.
- Able to pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
Pay: up to $25/hr DOE
