Title: Youth Sports Instructor

Pay: $12/hour
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Status: Part Time
Reports to: Sports Director/Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Sports Director and in accordance with the Christian mission and
purpose of the Great Miami Valley (GMV) YMCA Association, the Sports Instructor is
responsible for organizing, implementing, and officiating high-quality youth sports
programs, camps, and clinics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Supervises game activities to meet YMCA objectives. Keeps players safe by providing
an environment that follows the league rules and manages coaches and parents in
the best interest of the YMCA.
2. Attends staff meetings and trainings to learn, grow, and develop within the sports
department and the YMCA.
3. Works with other employees to provide excellent member experience.
4. Behaves in a way that reflects the core values of the Great Miami Valley YMCA and
utilizes those core values to teach the sport participants.
5. Effectively communicates with coaches and parents before, during, and after youth
sports games.
6. Communicates any issues from games, camps or clinics to the sports
director/coordinator.
7. Participates and assists with the Annual Support Campaign and collecting stories.
8. Can effectively tell Y story to communicate and promote the Y within their
community and social circle.
9. Dependable and reliable to meet the needs and duties assigned by the Sports
Director/Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum age of 15.
2. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse
Prevention, CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens and New staff Orientation.
3. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
4. Reliable transportation.
