Magnet Medical is seeking a travel Cath Lab Technologist for a 13-week assignment in Lutz, Florida. Job Summary
This position requires a highly skilled Cath Lab Technologist to work alongside cardiologists and other medical staff in a fast-paced cardiac catheterization lab. The ideal candidate will have experience with diagnostic and interventional procedures, including coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, and structural heart problems. Key Responsibilities
Pre-Procedure Preparation:
Prepare the cath lab environment by ensuring all necessary equipment and tools are sterile, functional, and properly set up. Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and consent forms, before the procedure begins. Assist in preparing patients, including setting up monitoring equipment and ensuring proper positioning. Provide patient education and reassurance before the procedure.
Assisting with Procedures:
Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiological studies, and other interventional procedures. Handle sterile instruments, such as catheters, balloons, and stents, during the procedure. Operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment and assist with imaging during diagnostic tests. Monitor vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician. Administer medications under physician direction.
Post-Procedure Care:
Monitor patients for immediate complications after the procedure. Assist in transferring patients from the procedure table to recovery. Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm, vital signs, and the insertion site. Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and their families.
Equipment Management and Maintenance:
Maintain, clean, and sterilize cath lab equipment and instruments. Regularly check and troubleshoot cath lab machinery. Order necessary supplies and manage inventory. Assist in calibrating equipment to ensure accurate diagnostic results.
Patient Monitoring and Safety:
Continuously monitor patients' vital signs during procedures. Ensure proper documentation of patient information, procedures, and outcomes. Adhere to safety and infection control protocols. Monitor the catheter insertion site for signs of complications.
Collaboration with Medical Team:
Work closely with cardiologists, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Attend pre-procedure meetings to review patient conditions. Assist in evaluating the results of diagnostic tests.
Education and Training:
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cardiac catheterization techniques and equipment. Participate in ongoing education, certification programs, and training. Educate patients about their condition and the procedure they are undergoing. Assist in training and mentoring new staff or students.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Adhere to all regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA for patient privacy, OSHA safety standards, and Joint Commission requirements. Ensure that all procedures and documentation meet hospital policies, accreditation standards, and industry regulations. Participate in regular performance audits.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., cardiovascular technology, nursing) Current certification in cardiac catheterization laboratory technology Minimum 1 year of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Compensation and Benefits
