- JOB SUMMARY
- Prepares and serves breakfast, lunch and other food to cafeteria customers in a courteous customer service oriented manner. Organize and set up equipment and workstations. Operates cash register.
- DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
- Reads and interprets production orders, recipes, and written directions to prepare food. Selects and manipulates dishes and utensils to portion menu items. Portions and measures menu items according to production schedule or menu stated amounts. Safely manipulates knives to peel, chop, and slice food.
- Arranges items on plates quickly, accurately and neatly according to customer requests. Prepares food items such as breakfast entrees, sandwiches, fried foods and beverages. Carries and safely handles hot liquids and foods.
- Sorts and stores clean dishes and flatware to place dishes onto dish dollies and carts.
- Collects soiled meal trays from cafeteria tables and loads trays onto conveyor. Inspects all work surfaces and equipment to identify soil or disrepair to assure safe and proper operation of equipment. Disassembles and reassembles parts of equipment to clean and operate. Immerses, scrubs, washes, wipes and manipulates equipment parts, utensils, and dishes to clean. Sorts and removes food and paper from soiled dishes, trays and flatware. Cleans and organizes refrigerators, freezers and dry storage areas. Sweeps and mops floors.
- Follows written safe food handling procedures. Washes hands frequently; hands frequently; handles dishes, equipment and flatware to avoid food-contact surface contamination. Selects appropriate cleaning and sanitizing solutions; follows safety precautions when using hazardous chemicals: wears goggles, gloves, masks or other protective equipment according to written instructions. Properly wraps, dates, labels, and initials foods for storage. Cleans and operates a variety of food preparation and warewashing equipment
- Counts, matches items with written list to inventory stock, orders supplies as needed, and places items in assigned areas to organize stock. Reads thermometer to measure temperatures of food and equipment to assure safe food holding temperatures.
- Accurately counts money to refund correct change and calculate cash register receipts.. Prepares reports for cash register transactions. Reads and records totals shown on cash register tape and verify against cash on hand.
- EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum requirement:
- Successful completion of Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Assessment
- Preferred qualifications:
- One (1) to three (3) months of related experience or training.

- WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat.
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold.
- Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently exposed to sharp knives, blades and other sharp implements.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Required to wear rubber soled shoes as precaution to prevent slips and falls.
- Routinely uses a computer.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequently required to move about throughout the department and facility.
- Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
