Job Description
The Assistant Production Supervisor is responsible for assisting in shift start-up, fulfillment of customer demands, and coordination of people and materials. This individual will assist in the supervision of the production of finished goods in keeping with the standards established regarding quality of product, safety of operations, yield, line efficiency, and productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises and participates in set-up, sanitation, operation, and routine maintenance of packaging lines and supporting equipment/systems.
- Responsible for trouble shooting packaging equipment problems
- Ensures that lines are supplied with all necessary components
- Keeps inventory on packaging components and confirms there are enough components for the line to run completely
- Inspects coding machines to ensure code number is in reference to lot number
- Assigns packaging personnel to positions on the lines at the beginning of the shift
- Assigns packaging personnel clean up duties
- Train packaging machine operators and line equipment operators
Qualifications:
- Some college or vocational school preferred
- Two or more years related experience or equivalent food processing experience and GMP knowledge is plus
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Basic computer skills required.
- Highly-motivated person who is able to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Team-oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work during days, nights and weekends as necessary
- Work in a cold environment at 34 degrees
