Collaborate with passionate educators and dedicated staff in a close-knit environment where faith and learning are integrated into daily life. Key Responsibilities Guide students and families through all aspects of the college search and application process, from developing a college list to navigating financial aid. Manage a caseload of 30-40 juniors and seniors, providing personalized, one-on-one counseling tailored to each student's strengths, aspirations, and challenges. Write thoughtful, compelling letters of recommendation that highlight students' character, achievements, and growth. Lead group sessions and workshops for students and parents, fostering understanding of the college admissions process and cultivating strategic approaches. Build and maintain strong relationships with college admissions professionals, advocating for Stony Brook students and staying informed about institutional priorities and trends. Contribute to the design and teaching of college counseling classes, equipping students with essential skills and knowledge for the admissions process. Participate in professional development opportunities, including college visits, workshops, and conferences, to stay at the forefront of the field. Collaborate with the school's academic advising team and contribute to broader initiatives that support students' academic and personal growth. Engage fully in the life of The Stony Brook School, including supporting extracurricular activities, residential life, and community events. Key Qualifications A strong alignment with the Christian values and mission of The Stony Brook School, with a passion for mentoring young people in their faith and personal development. 5-7 years of experience in college counseling or college admissions, with a demonstrated ability to successfully guide students through the application process. Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a talent for fostering trust and collaboration among students, families, and colleagues. High emotional intelligence, empathy, and sensitivity to the diverse needs of students and families. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to thrive during peak application periods. Proficiency in relevant technology tools and college application platforms. A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree or higher is preferred. Salary and Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience and housing arrangements.
