Air Vehicle Performance and Sizing Engineer OR a Principal Air Vehicle Performance and Sizing Engineer
to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in
Redondo Beach, CA. The candidate will perform Air Vehicle Performance and Sizing analysis within a Flight Sciences team, working with related disciplines including Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Mass Properties, Configuration, and others. Responsibilities include: Conduct preliminary design synthesis and analysis of advanced manned and unmanned air vehicles. Perform takeoff/landing, mission and point performance characteristics of candidate aircraft designs. Conduct vehicle sizing and performance trade studies to define and evaluate advanced concepts. Conduct competitive vehicle performance assessments and flight test data analysis. Develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems and document results. Interact and brief external customers, serving as a technical lead. Support vehicle performance and sizing analysis for vehicle programs from government organizations. Provide analysis and guide design teams to execute program goals. Air Vehicle Performance and Sizing Engineer Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 2 years’ experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM. Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher. Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access. Understanding of aircraft performance analysis and conceptual air vehicle sizing analysis. 2+ years of experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran, or Linux. Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of fundamental aircraft design, aerodynamic and propulsion parameters. Experience with aircraft carrier suitability analysis. Experience in aircraft sizing and performance assessment. Familiarity with MIL-STD-3013B. Experience with multi-disciplinary design, analysis, and optimization (MDAO). Principal Air Vehicle Performance and Sizing Engineer Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM with 3 years of experience. Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher. Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access. Complete understanding of aircraft performance analysis and conceptual air vehicle sizing analysis. 4+ years of experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran, or Linux. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with aircraft carrier suitability analysis. Experience applying MIL-STD-3013B rules. Experience modeling VTOL (Vertical Takeoff Landing) vehicle configurations. Salary Range:
$104,600 - $157,000 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
