The Heavy Equipment Operator will safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery associated with environmental service projects for GrayMar clients at field locations.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Model GrayMar Values
  • Ensure each employee is prepared and educated in safe work practices.
  • Operates heavy equipment proficiently, productively, and in compliance with the company operating safety policies and procedures.
  • Operates equipment that may include forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, wheeled and track skid steers, backhoes, compaction equipment, and additional heavy equipment.
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Follows appropriate standard operating procedures as guideline for operating and maintaining company vehicles.
  • Works with hazardous and non-hazardous soils and substances in proper PPE while operating heavy equipment.
  • Grease and maintain equipment.
  • Loading and unloading heavy equipment on trailers
  • Participates in a drug-free workplace with a random drug testing program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Rough and fine grading
  • Sloping, benching, and certified compaction
  • High production truck loading
  • Mass excavation
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • 5 years of heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience
  • 5 years of experience operating excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record, commercial class A driver’s license preferred.
  • 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER with current 8-hr refresher preferred
Other Requirements:
  • Must pass drug screening and criminal background check.
  • Safety oriented mindset with the determination to follow all procedures and policies.
  • Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
  • Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
