3rd Shift Sanitation Supervisor

Location: Old Dutch Foods
Work Hours: 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM
Work Days: Monday to Friday

As a 3rd Shift Supervisor at Old Dutch Foods, you will coordinate and supervise activities of workers engaged in maintaining equipment, machinery, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition in compliance with HACCP standards. You will inspect equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards, ensuring that the crew is properly trained and working efficiently.
Job Duties:
  1. Ensure that the packaging and process machinery areas are kept clean and meet HACCP standards and specifications.
  2. Coordinate the activities and workflow of sanitation workers in a cost-effective manner.
  3. Train, administer, and enforce company practices, policies, and procedures.
  4. Report any issues that cannot be immediately resolved.
  5. Recommend and/or make decisions regarding employee status, including hiring, discipline, safety, and promotion.
  6. Direct, train, and lead the sanitation crew in proper cleaning procedures.
  7. Maintain personnel records and required sanitary documentation.
  8. Handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  9. Make quick, sound decisions in the company's best interest.
  10. Motivate staff and ensure a safe work environment.
  11. Conduct daily inspections of equipment and areas before production begins.
  12. Understand the cleaning process and estimate the number of workers needed for tasks.
  13. Manage any production operations occurring during the night.
Job Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, FDA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Familiarity with food processing manufacturing.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office; experience with JDE is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills with attention to detail and good communication abilities.
  • High school diploma or GED and at least three years of experience in sanitation supervision or equivalent.
Essential Job Functions:
  1. Lead a crew to safely and efficiently complete tasks throughout the building.
  2. Maneuver around machinery for 50% of the workday.
  3. Climb ladders/stairs as needed throughout the day.
  4. Lift and carry loads weighing up to 50 pounds.
  5. Work at a computer station for 20% of the workday.
  6. Demonstrate strong people skills, including the ability to defuse volatile situations.
  7. Maneuver cautiously on slippery floor surfaces.
  8. Inspect and clean equipment as necessary.
  9. Work in varied environments: hot, humid, cold, noisy, wet, and odorous.
  10. Lead and train a diverse workforce to maintain quality and sanitation standards.
  11. Complete safety training and adhere to all requirements.
  12. Work 40 - 45 hours per week.
  13. Maintain dependable attendance.
  14. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  15. Communicate effectively with a diverse employee population.
  16. Exhibit good decision-making and leadership skills.
  17. Take on responsibilities with little or no direction.
  18. Demonstrate all cleaning duties to properly train workers.
