This position has a schedule of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch period.

SynCot Plastics, a Vinmar Company, is searching for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our finance team in Belmont, NC. As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, and supporting the overall efficiency of our accounting department. Your daily tasks will include data entry, handling accounts payable and receivable, and preparing financial reports. You will ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and up-to-date, contributing to our commitment to financial integrity and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
  • Enter incoming shipments into a log, assign lot numbers.
  • Maintain financial records by performing data entry in accounting software, Peachtree.
  • File original Bill of Ladings for all incoming/outgoing shipments.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Support the finance team with various administrative tasks as needed.
  • Communicate with vendors and clients regarding invoice discrepancies.
  • Create purchase orders, send to vendors.
  • Provide credit references.
  • Maintain financial records for our fleet vehicles, renew registrations.
  • Maintain mileage/fuel records for quarterly IFTA reports required for NCDOT.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping is a plus.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills to interact with clients and vendors.
