The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee is seeking a new visionary and dynamic President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its mission-driven organization. As one of the oldest and largest charities in the region, the Y serves over 50,000+ individuals annually through a wide range of impactful programs, including early childhood education, senior services, sports, education, fitness, health interventions, and more.

The President & CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee plays a pivotal role in leading the organization toward its mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for:

  1. Visionary Leadership: Develop and drive a long-term vision that keeps the YMCA at the forefront of addressing community needs, including education, affordable childcare, health interventions, and social equity.
  2. Community Engagement: Serve as the face of the YMCA in the Greater Milwaukee area, building trust, partnerships, and a strong presence within the community.
  3. Operational Excellence: Ensure that the YMCA operates efficiently, meeting financial targets and maintaining strong organizational processes. Identify and address any operational challenges or risks.
  4. Strategic Direction: Lead the development and execution of the Y’s strategic goals, ensuring that programs are impactful, sustainable, and aligned with the organization’s core values.
  5. Financial Stewardship: Oversee fundraising efforts, ensuring the financial health of the organization through careful resource management and securing funding to support programs.
  6. Culture and Innovation: Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative organizational culture, ensuring that the YMCA remains adaptable to evolving community needs.

The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a deep commitment to service, a passion for community transformation, and proven experience in leadership, fundraising, and strategic partnership-building. They should have a strong understanding of the diverse needs of the community, along with the ability to navigate complex challenges while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience, preferably a CEO in the YMCA or nonprofit sector.
  • Proven success in strategic planning, board development, fundraising, fiscal management, and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-site operations and manage diverse teams effectively.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity, with the ability to develop an inclusive organizational culture.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of YMCA’s global mission and the ability to articulate and advocate for its cause effectively.
  • Certification from YMCA of the USA as an Organizational Leader must be obtained within three years after starting the CEO position.
