Profile:

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all legal activities associated with the business of IGA.
  2. Represent the company and lead responsibility for legal matters of the highest profile, impact, complexity, or sensitivity.
  3. Identify company issues with legal implications for IGA, its brands, and portfolio businesses.
  4. Lead the company’s business and legal affairs function.
  5. Provide strategic guidance and expertise on significant legal issues impacting commercial activities.
  6. Manage day-to-day operations of the business & legal affairs function.
  7. Collaborate with IGA executives to provide solutions to legal issues.
  8. Oversee activities related to acquisition, exploitation, and protection of artists’ intellectual property rights.
  9. Consult with UMG Legal Division members and/or outside counsel on peripheral legal matters.
  10. Analyze corporate contracts, legal agreements, and risk management issues.
  11. Maintain knowledge of legal and policy issues impacting the company.

Qualifications:

  1. Juris Doctorate Degree and current membership in the NYC or California State Bar.
  2. 15 years’ experience handling and advising on intellectual property and commercial marketing issues.
  3. At least 10 years experience in the recorded music industry in senior legal/business affairs roles.
  4. Exceptional problem-solving, risk assessment, and analysis skills.
  5. Strong entertainment business experience and excellent communication skills.
  6. Strong collaboration and team skills.
  7. Prior leadership and people management experience.
