Job Title: Lead Janitor
Division: Community Contracts
Department: Custodial Federal Building - Custodial Fort Shafter
Reports To: Custodial / Project Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reviewed By: Human Resources
SUMMARY
Assists the Custodial / Project Supervisor to manage and coordinate activities of project workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining premises. Duties include the following.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assigns tasks to workers, and inspects completed work to ensure quality control.
Issues supplies and equipment.
Resolves workers' problems or refers matters to supervisor.
Records employees' hours worked and turn into supervisor.
Submits requests for repair of cleaning equipment to supervisor.
Performs duties of workers supervised and or other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in maintaining payroll, supplies, and expenses to budgeted plan.
Maintain rapport with tenants to assure customer satisfaction.
Assist the completion of all required necessary documents for work schedules, completions, and CDR responses.
Enforce safety standards procedures for all workers on project.
Communicate regularly with supervisor / project manager on status of project.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma preferred. Two years work experience in custodial services involving general custodial practices, restroom sanitation, resilient floor maintenance, carpet care, cleaning chemicals. Knowledge of and experience working with disabled employees helpful.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos and to respond to inquires from government contract administrators. Ability to effectively present information / response to appropriate parties both verbally and written.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate mathematically proportions, percentages, and monetary value. Comprehension of monetary budget control for various expense elements on the project, i.e.. payroll, supplies, repairs, and to budget goals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve problems and situations involving project activities. Ability to interpret instructions, and contract requirements as furnished written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Hawaii driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
