This is a full time position. We are hiring for night shift. Shifts are 12 hours.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with KICA membership, island guests, commercial customers, island employees, and other island entities.
  • Answer telephones to assist callers with various needs and resolve the issue or direct them to the appropriate party.
  • Utilize computer software to locate member records and enter guest and member passes as needed.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people to Kiawah Island, ensuring appropriate passes are displayed before entrance is authorized.
  • Protect property, identify covenant violations, and identify safety issues while patrolling the island.
  • Perform physical patrol checks of KICA buildings and properties. Often times alone and/or in total darkness.
  • Promptly respond to calls for services to include; traffic accidents, medical calls, house alarms, wildlife issues, emergency situations, handle according to policy.
  • Complete incident reports, witness statements, and other required documentation for all security incidents.
  • Monitor security surveillance cameras and report any suspicious activity in a timely manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service and follow all safety guidelines while driving the shuttle for KICA members on-island or to Charleston area locations.
  • Provide traffic control and handle detours when island roads are non-passable for various situations.
  • Assist with island closure and re-opening during emergency weather situations.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to the Kiawah Standards.
  • Work efficiently in order to reduce costs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Ability to use excellent customer service techniques, even when under stressful or difficult conditions.
  • Ability to lift minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, carry, walk, and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to navigate stairs and walking ramps in low light conditions
  • Comfortable working in weather environments that may be extremely hot or extremely cold, wet, icy, snowy, etc.
  • Ability to work on weekends, holidays, and emergency weather situations
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance, following all KICA uniform guidelines and grooming standards.
  • Keep mental alertness and attention to detail at all times.
  • Proficient in technology including computers, iPads, smart phones, walkie-talkies, etc.
  • Ability to discern and diagnose normal situations from emergency situations and to respond in either case using excellent customer service techniques.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions and communications.

Other requirements:

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and driving record check.
  • Maintain a valid South Carolina Drivers License
  • Must be 18 years old or older and able to qualify for and maintain a SLED certification
