Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Secretary (Office Automation). Make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Sacramento, California This is not a remote position. Responsibilities The primary duties of this position are: Advises the manager of important matters relative to significant items in reports, files, and correspondence Composes correspondence relative to the administrative support functions of the office and other subjects as outlined in directives or procedures, or as specifically requested by the manager Attends meetings and disseminates information to staff members Manages the manager's calendar and makes commitments of time for appointments, conferences, and speaking engagements Screens telephone calls and visitors to the office and ascertains the nature of the call or visit and determines appropriate action Maintains final control of all outgoing correspondence submitted for the manager's signature Reviews correspondence for proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation Receives and routes mail and reviews and controls the manager's incoming mail Inventories the manager's incoming mailbox & e-mail account and organizes material and prioritizes assignments according to suspense dates, ensuring deadlines are met and mail is moving in a timely manner Prepares travel authorizations and vouchers Requisitions office supplies, equipment, and publications, repairs on office equipment, maintenance, and printing services Makes small purchases within prescribed guidelines using a government charge card Uses standard software programs such as word processing and spreadsheets, as well as specialized software to include electronic mail, calendars and personal data assistants, training, travel, procurement, timekeeping, personnel actions, address databases, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. Qualifications In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume. To qualify at the GS-6 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-5 level in federal service having demonstrated experience providing clerical support, typing, maintaining files and records, screening material, establishing procedures, following up on action items, editing correspondence, and requisitioning supplies and/or equipment. These examples are not all-inclusive. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Selective Placement Factor: Applicants must possess a typing skill of at least 40 words per minute. Certification may be a certificate of proficiency dated within the past 3 years or self-certification by stating current speed on your application for employment and/or resume. In addition to meeting the Selective Placement Factor, applicants must have one year of specialized experience as defined above. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 11/11/2024.
