Description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.

REPORTS TO: Ancillary Operations Manager

RESPONSIBILIITES
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Prepares and positions patient for ultrasound imaging procedures
  • Assist in lifting and transport of patients
  • Screen patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the exam
  • Documents patient assessment and history
  • Explain procedures to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation
  • Performs ultrasound examinations
  • Operates computer and ultrasound equipment for image production and documentation
  • Prepare images for interpretation by radiologist
  • Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity
  • Performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal images
  • Enters and properly completes all patient information including exam charges onto Data Cap Forms.
  • Prepares images for interpretation by the radiologist in an accurate and timely manner
  • Exhibits flexibility and adaptability to unique needs of the department and responds appropriately
  • Communicate abnormal situations to proper sources in a way that facilitates resolution and/or tracking
  • Actively engages other health care providers (radiologist, physicians, and medical assistants to ensure quality, continuity and appropriateness of care
  • Follows department policies and procedures
  • Ensures strict compliance with all clinical protocols
  • Practice universal precautions to minimize risks to patient and staff
  • Maintain the ultrasound equipment in good operating order
  • Ensures compliance with AGAs Mobile U/S Equipment Storage and Security Policy
  • Applies the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice
  • Completes forms and maintains records such as logs, and reports of work performed, as directed
  • Participates in accreditation process as it applies to the department
  • Ensures compliance with all GA state regulatory requirements as well as ACR accreditation regulatory requirements, as appropriate
  • Assists in managing ultrasound patient schedule
  • Accurately provides or counsels patients and/or relatives with pertinent information regarding ultrasound/imaging
  • Has a strong knowledge and understanding of different insurance plans
  • Meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards as set by the Imaging/Infusion Manager
  • Answers emails and voicemails and returns patient calls in a timely and efficient manner as appropriate
  • Completes requests for information from other AGA, LLC staff and ensures that they are handled promptly and effectively to guarantee payment on patient accounts
  • Abides by and promotes HIPAA compliance; maintains strictest confidentiality with regards to patient information
  • Participates in staff meetings as directed by the Imaging/Infusion Manager
  • Participates in marketing activities as directed by the Imaging/Infusion Manager
  • Any other duties and/or special projects as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Must have undergone advanced training to become an ultrasound technologist. Must be a graduate of AMA approved ultrasonography program and be registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in abdominal sonography and abdominal Doppler sonography. BLS certification in CPR. Must be computer literate and able to operate both eMDs scheduling software and multiple Microsoft Office applications.

Ultrasound Technologist must be able to:

  • Interpret and apply clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal imaging/ultrasound scanning environment; travel within the Metro area is required. Assist in lifting and transport of patients
