Are you looking for a hands-on role that contributes to the cleanliness and upkeep of city buildings? We are seeking a dedicated Custodian to join our team. In this position, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:

- Perform routine manual cleaning and maintenance of city buildings and grounds.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and practices to ensure thoroughness.
- Manage the locking and unlocking of doors, ensuring security.
- Collect trash and debris to maintain cleanliness.
- Ensure maintenance equipment is in proper working order.
- Conduct additional related tasks as required.
- Participate in snow and ice removal operations. (This position is considered mission essential)
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED preferred, with 2 to 4 months of experience in custodial or maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven track record of dependability and thoroughness in previous roles.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work independently.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license required.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and driving record check.
Work Schedule:
- Approximately 28 hours per week, with variable hours.
- Some shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays; flexibility is required (typically 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM).
