This person will collaborate with vendor partners and the Eventique production team to successfully translate and execute all technical aspects of events, from stage production to AV and fabrication. We operate globally from headquarters in New York.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Director of Production to oversee our dynamic team of production personnel and manage end-to-end event production strategies through execution. This role is designed for a hands-on leader who is not only strategic but also highly supportive of their team, guiding and empowering each production member to excel. You will oversee the planning, coordination, and management of all Eventique events, ensuring flawless execution and maintaining a proactive approach to solving challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of ownership over event outcomes, impeccable and thorough communication skills, independently prioritized, highly responsive, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to balance client expectations with team capacities.
Local candidates are preferred, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Events are primarily in NYC, with occasional travel across the U.S.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Oversight of Production: Execute on and oversee the production team with their production strategies from conceptual planning to onsite execution, ensuring all technical and logistical aspects align with client expectations, budget constraints, and safety regulations.
Team Leadership and Development: Oversee the team of production personnel, assigning team members to events based on workload forecasts and project needs to avoid burnout. Coach and develop each team member to higher levels of production responsibilities to meet business needs and maintain high retention levels on production team.
Vendor and Technical Management: Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships, guiding production managers in gathering and finalizing essential technical specifications (fabrication, rigging, A/V). Shape best practices to ensure vendors understand production goals and priorities, maintain clear communication throughout all phases, and regularly assess vendor performance to recommend improvements and cost-effective solutions for optimal production outcomes.
Comprehensive Event Preparation: Conduct weekly reviews of upcoming events to confirm all production details are covered, from vendor equipment needs to venue specifications. Ensure production support matches event requirements and that each team member understands their role and responsibilities.
Resource Allocation and Forecasting: Strategically assign production team members to each project, balancing team availability with the demands of upcoming events. Forecast and monitor team workloads, making proactive adjustments to ensure efficient use of internal and freelance resources without overtaxing the team.
Onsite Execution Oversight: Oversee logistical planning for load-in/load-out, technical setup, and event safety management. Support the onsite production teams for managing labor during setup and production, ensuring high standards of quality, compliance, and health and safety.
Freelance Talent Integration: Continuously source, interview, and incorporate freelance production staff as necessary, ensuring they seamlessly integrate with the in-house team for each event.
Qualifications:
Experience: 10+ years in live event, AV, fabrication, and technical production—preferably within an event agency setting—with at least 5 years in a managerial or director role overseeing complex productions and managing teams.
Budgeting: Extensive experience with production finances, including proposal development, product/service costs, budget forecasting, vendor negotiations, and reconciliation.
Technical Knowledge: Strong foundation in production-related technical skills, with proficiency in vector works/CAD for drafting and reading plans.
Leadership and Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of inspiring and motivating through adapting to various styles and conveying production vision and goals to clients and vendors, and encouraging delegation with team members effectively.
Organization: Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and track project progress for the entire team in a high-paced production environment.
Vendor Network: An established network of industry contacts and vendors, with a deep understanding of material, labor, and AV costs.
